WE INTRODUCE OURSELVES TO YOU
EXPLANATION OF knowing the times HISTORY May 18, 2024
"Knowing The Times" published its first issue in July, 1996, with the goal to first and always exalt and magnify the Lord. Many of you have been receiving the newsletter since its first issue, while some of you may have begun receiving the newsletter only recently. Those of us involved with "Knowing The Times" have prepared the mailing list as we have felt the Lord directing us. Some of you may have requested to be added to our mailing list after hearing about us from other sources. Regardless of how you began receiving it, the Lord has a purpose in your receiving this publication.
Over the years the Lord has narrowed the focus of "Knowing The Times." Our former website www.knowingthetimes.com, explained that focus, which is as follows:
"It is difficult to put into a few words the gift that our Father has given to Knowing The Times. We place before you that which the Holy Spirit of God has given unto us:
To give voice to the Father's Heart concerning His People Israel . . .
Proclaiming His Truth that Israel is His Chosen People . . .
They always have been and always will be . . .
To call Israel to their true inheritance -
The Land which God has given them and the Savior Whom He has provided for them . . ."
As readers of "Knowing The Times" you most likely have noticed that the majority of the issues now deal, in part or whole, with God's Chosen People Israel. We have chosen to obey His command to 'give voice to the Father's Heart concerning His People Israel.' There is no question in our minds that this command is from Him because it is in agreement with His Scriptures.
He loves Israel and He always will - "I have loved you with an everlasting love; . . ." (Zech. 31:3)
He has chosen Israel to be His- "For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth." (Deut. 7:6)
He has chosen Israel to be His forever - "And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you." (Gen. 17:7);"...for through Isaac your descendants will be named."(Gen. 21:12). He gave His People a land for their possession - "And I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; ..." (Gen.17:8); "And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, and I will give the land to your descendants after you."(Gen. 35:12)
He gave them their Messiah "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."(Matt. 15:24)
Nor is there any question in our minds about obeying His command, for He explains His thoughts concerning obedience in His Scriptures, also.
He promised a blessing for obedience and a curse for disobedience - "See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am commanding you today; and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, by following others gods which you have not known." (Deut. 12:26-28) He is unhappy with our disobedience - "I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not carried out My commands ...Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams."(1 Sam. 15:11, 22)
He rewards obedience - "Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and
you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you." (Jer. 7:23) "Please obey the Lord in what I am saying to you, that it may go well with you and you may live."(Jer. 38:20) "And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him." (Acts 5:32)
He gave us His Son, Yeshua, as the perfection of obedience "Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek." (Heb. 5:8, 9)
Obedience has always been the focal point, and foundation, of man's relationship with God - from Adam and Eve to Saul and David, to Yeshua and His disciples, to you and me. Itis the center around which our relationship with Him is built. The greater our obedience, the closer our relationship is with Him. The closer our relationship, the greater our obedience is to Him. We cannot sufficiently stress the importance of this truth. Without obedience we will not be prepared for the future, or for tomorrow, or for today. We know that the time is growing shorter for the return of Messiah Yeshua. Although many generations since His resurrection have believed that He would return during their time, we believe that the time of His return is growing closer because He has restored Jerusalem and the land of Israel to His People Israel. Before His return, however, there will be a time of tribulation. Our obedience will prepare us for that time. But, even before that time comes, we must be prepared for today. Today could be the last day of our lives. If so, have we been the obedient children our Father desires - requires - us to be?
We should live each day as though it were our last day, prepared for eternity. Putting anything ahead of obedience affects our eternal life. If we know that obedience is required of us then we must be obedient now! Our choice to be obedient will make the difference in with whom we spend our eternity. "You are my friends, if you do what I command you." - Yeshua. (John 15:14)
CURRENT EVENTS during the time of 1990. Reading the newsletters in chronicle order gives an interesting of history that brings us to October 7, 2023!
The situation in Israel continues to deteriorate. The Palestinian terrorists continue their attacks on the Israeli people. Yet, the world continues to speak out against Israel and to promote peace with the Palestinians; and anti-Semitism continues to grow.
"Chinese President Zhiang Zamin condemned the siege that Israel has placed on Yasser Arafat, and called on both sides to renew the "peace talks." In his telegram to Arafat, sent after Arafat requested Chinese intervention, Zamin wrote that he objects to "other Israeli actions that endanger the lives and property of Palestinian citizens." The Chinese leader added, "China values the Palestinians' efforts to find a solution to the conflict.""(A7 1/28/02)
"Sweden's foreign minister lashed out at President Bush's open criticism of Yasser Arafat. 'I think it is very dangerous if the United States is supportive of the Israeli government' instead of 'supporting peace talks,' Anna Lindh said. She made the comment upon arriving Monday in Brussels, where the European Union's 15 foreign ministers are meeting to discuss the escalating Israeli-Palestinian violence. During the meeting, the ministers urged Israel to recognize the Palestinian Authority as a necessary partner in the quest for peace, according to the draft statement. But they also said Arafat must do more to curb 'terrorists networks.' Last Friday Bush said he was 'disappointed' in Arafat, adding that the Palestinian leader "must make a full effort to rout out terror in the Middle East.'" (jta.org, 1/28/02)
"Pretoria/RSA January 24th 2002
Wafa (Official Palestine News Agency), The RSA Government condemned all Israeli war crimes and atrocities against the armless and defenseless Palestinian people, saying that the Israeli crimes are only an unjustified and senseless revenge action. In a statement issued on Wednesday the RSA Foreign ministry said that the Israeli
Government aims to keep the flame of violence and the state of war, ongoing, and it does not seek peace. The statement emphasized that the RSA will keep providing the necessary support for the Palestinian President and his people adding, that the RSA position, of seeking peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis, is reflected through RSA President Thabo Mbeki's will to host peace talks and negotiations." (IMRA 1/24/02)
"Amidst the wave of major terror attacks that continue to hit Israeli citizens at the rate of one every 2-3 days, the European Union is engaged in formulating a condemnation of none other than - Israel. The EU is miffed at Israel for causing $17 million worth of damage to EU sponsored projects in the course of fighting its war of self-defense against Palestinian terrorism. The Foreign Minister of Spain, which now holds the EU's rotating presidency, plans to send a letter of protest and condemnation to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon." A7 1/27/02
PARIS, Jan. 21, 2002 "Jews in the Paris region have stepped up their drive against a wave of anti-Semitic aggression that many feel has reached epidemic proportions. On Sunday in the Paris suburb of Sarcelles, more than 600 people attended a rally against anti-Semitic violence... It was the third such demonstration in the Paris suburbs in the last three weeks... The demonstrations were prompted by two separate arson attacks against Jewish community sites in the Parisian suburbs of Creteil and Goussainville. On Dec. 31, in the waning hours of 2001, vandals set fire to a classroom of the Jewish school Ozar HaTorah in Creteil. Days later, in perhaps the most serious episode, witnesses saw some thirty youths between the ages of 12 and 20 hurl rocks and Molotov cocktails at a Goussainville Jewish home that also serves as the local synagogue. For more than a year, French Jewish leaders have called on the government to confront the dramatic rise in anti-Semitic violence that began with the outbreak of the Palestinian intifada in September 2000. Officials from CRIF, the umbrella group of secular French Jewish organizations, counted 320 acts of anti-Jewish aggression last year. Most of the acts involved vandalism and verbal threats. But after the attack in Goussainville endangered the lives of a mother and her four young children, a new feeling of urgency and outrage has spread throughout the Jewish community around Paris. Adding to the anger was President Jacques Chirac's recent statement that 'there are no anti-Semitism and no antiSemites in France.'" (JTA)
WASHINGTON, January 27, 2002 "Saudi Arabia threatened to boycott last week's International Conference on Reconstruction Assistance to Afghanistan in Tokyo if a delegation from Israel attended, The Jerusalem Post has learned. Saudi Arabia, which co-chaired the event with the US, European Union, and Spain, pledged $220 million for reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan, one of the largest single-country contributions made at the conference, which raised $4.5 billion. Diplomatic sources in Washington said the US had assured Israel it would be invited and that the US would back any decision Israel made about what type of delegation to send. Expecting an invitation, Israel decided to send its ambassador in Tokyo, Yitzhak Lior. After the Saudis voiced their strong objections, Japan withheld an invitation and neither the White House nor the State Department intervened to ensure that Israel would receive one. One well placed source in Washington said the US told Israel it could request an invitation from the Japanese, but that it would be relieved if it did not... Fifty-eight nations plus the Afghanistan Interim Administration attended the conference, as well as 19 international organizations." (JERUSALEM POST)
We urge you to be obedient to the commands of the Father. Remember to ..."Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.' For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, ‘May peace be within you." For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.’ " (Psalm 122:6-8) Also remember that He will judge us according to the attitude of our hearts toward His People Israel. "For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations, and bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I will enter into judgment with them there on behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; and they have divided up My land."(Joel 3:2) Let it not be said of us what the Lord said of King Belshazzar - "...you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient." (Dan.5:25)
